Treatment Models

In Wise Mind Therapy we use three main forms of therapy models: CBT, DBT, and Trauma Focused. However, if these models don’t work for you or haven’t worked for you in the past we can use our sessions to understand your needs and collaboratively design a therapy method that works best for you.

Although we strive to primarily use these three models, we are eclectic with our therapy methods which helps us utilize various skills, methods, and models to fit your needs.

Wise Mind Therapy advocates that all three methods shown below are appropriate for all ages.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based, gentle, collaborative, and empowering form of talk therapy designed to help you navigate life's challenges by understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

It is not about simply "thinking positive," but rather about becoming a compassionate observer of your own mind, identifying patterns that cause you pain, and finding more flexible, realistic ways to approach life.

CBT can help the overthinkers and their inner critic to quiet down thoughts, navigate the voice in your head, and feel in control.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based, compassionate, mindful, and supportive form of talk therapy designed specifically for people who feel emotions very intensely and often feel overwhelmed by them.

Instead of just trying to "fix" your emotions, DBT offers a validating, nonjudgmental space that helps you accept who you are while simultaneously teaching you new skills to build a life that feels worth living.

DBT can help the sensitive and the vulnerable reduce emotional outbursts, find calm in the storm, and feel grounded.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) are evidence-based, structured, safe, and empathetic forms of talk therapy design for survivors to focus on safety, psychoeducation, and emotional regulation.

It is not about reliving your trauma in a repetitive or terrifying way, but about the ability to feel safe while processing your emotions, memories, negative core beliefs, and building your self worth.

Trauma focused therapy can help survivors reduce PTSD symptoms, reshape distorted beliefs, and feel safe.
